U.S. Greenhouse Gasses Lower in 2008, Says EPAMarch 15 Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in the United States fell by 2.9% in 2008, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) annual inventory of GHG. The chief factor was a decrease in carbon dioxide emissions associated with fuel and electricity consumption, says EPA. The inventory tracks GHG's from 1990 to 2008.
