ASHRAE HVAC System Inspection, Maintenance Standard Open for Public Comment


A proposed ASHRAE standard setting requirements for inspection and maintenance of HVAC systems is open for public comment through the end of April.

The proposed standard is available for review and comment at the ASHRAE website, www.ashrae.org/publicreviews.

The standard would establish minimum HVAC inspection and maintenance requirements that aid a system's ability to achieve acceptable thermal comfort, energy efficiency and indoor air quality in commercial buildings. Standard180P is being developed jointly by ASHRAE and the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA).

This is a second review of the proposed standard. As a result of comments made during the first review period, a number of clarifications have been made to the standard, according to Robert Baker, chair of the Standard 180 committee.
